Great story! Sorry to hear you have been so traumatized by Halloween! If it makes you feel any better my mom made me a handmade Rainbow Bright costume one year. And better yet she's been saving it in her closet for when I have a daughter someday. It's been in her closet since 1985.
Not many parents make costumes anymore! Maybe that's a good thing! LOL I hope your mom bought you some candy after that story!
Your mom sounds very similar to mine!! She also made all of my Halloween costumes from scratch. I have been everything from Carmen Miranda to Boy George. Fortunately, I was always a big ham and loved the attention. However, I can totally relate to your story. I could imagine I would be quite traumatized if I were a shy kid.
